IN a world that is increasingly reliant on technology, two organisations have teamed up to provide support to community members to take the digital leap. Starting in May, Age UK Barrow and District, in partnership with Dalton Community Association, one-to-one support sessions will be made available on a Tuesday morning for those who need help with digital devices. The sessions will help with a plethora of devices, including tablets, iPad s and smartphones. They will cover a range of topics such as sending emails, using social media apps and the use of Facebook and Whatsapp. Sessions are available as pre-bookable appointments only, and can be made by ringing 07547 254919 and speaking to Digital Inclusion Technical Coordinator Thomasina McNaughton.

A south Cumbrian charity is launching a new project aimed at addressing the problems preventing people from getting online.
Age UK Barrow and District are launching a new project aimed at addressing four categories of challenges that the Government identified that stops people from going online:Â
Access – the ability to actually go online and connect to the internetÂ
Skills – to be able to use the internetÂ
Motivation – knowing the reasons why using the internet is a good thingÂ
Trust – a fear of crime, or not knowing where to start to go onlineÂ
