I just want to face the trina face katrina she aint never gonna come back again this is a shame. This is america. We have several hundred sites across the state. Several hundred or so in the new orleans area. Katrina was an enormous and very powerful storm. What katrina has done has caused a cultural dais for a diaspora. Our culture is sprinkled all throughout the country now. Im gonna face katrina ah, just never gonna come back here again thats what im gonna do now announcer the city of new orleans one year after katrina is now home to less than a 50 of its population prior to the storm. A cspan video journalist traveled to new orleans in august where some of the worst flooding occurred, the lower ninth war, the chantilly district where the london canal flooded, and the Lake District where the levee walls did not hold up. While we were there, we talked with local citizens and Government Agency officials what is being done one year after katrina. I should have gone out of town sometime

This stream of smoke goes on forever seen for miles off highway 101 and dangerous enough for multiple Law Enforcement agencies including the Red Wood City Police Department to tell surrounding communities to stay inside. At times the wind is shifting and the smoke gets pretty heavy. Because of the smoke we issued a shelter in place order for residents in the area. They have been stopping cars Wearing Masks to protect themselves from the toxic smoke. Ment fire was first reportsrd after 1 00 in the afternoon. Someone witnessed smoke billowing from a Metal Recycling facility off seaport boulevard. There is a large mountain of scrap metal the that is on fire. The Fire Department is using cranes to get to the center of the scrap metal pile to extinguish the fire. The smoke may linger for awhile so people with preexisting Health Conditions should use caution while outdoors. We notified the hospitals in case any residents go to the hospitals complaining of any respiratory discom
News this morning. We have craig melvin, you have been in minneapolis now, we know that city and a lot of other cities across the country are getting ready for what could come. Yeah, National Guard troops on the ground here. They are on the ground in your own city as well and a number of major metro areas. Its a verdict that we expect to come this week. I was a a rally overnight not far from where im standing here in minneapolis and i would describe the mood on the ground as palpably anxious. There is a number of people concerned that whatever the outcome there will be unrest. Perhaps more violence. Thats the concern here, and again the concern for the number of cities around the country. The closing arguments are expected to not last very long. Were stold told that steve will go and then it will be an hour to an hour and a half as well. Then there will be a rebuttal. Downtown minneapolis, you see buildings surrounded by fences. Theyre tl are members of the National Guard out here. All five of the citys police p pr precincts are gated up. Authorities railroad slammed for being caught flatfooted, not having resources on hand.
