The FBI found "nothing there" after investigating Michael Sussmann's allegations of communications between the Trump Organization and a Russian bank, former FBI general counsel testified Thursday.

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Former Clinton campaign lawyer Marc Elias testified for more than three hours on Wednesday as part of the trial of Michael Sussmann, confirming that he hired Fusion GPS to run opposition research for Hillary For America during the 2016 election cycle, and revealing that he would share “the fruits of their work” with senior Clinton campaign officials.

An FBI agent told jurors Tuesday that Clinton campaign attorney Michael Sussmann's purported evidence tying former President Trump to Russia's Alfa Bank strained credibility because there was no effort to hide what Mr. Sussmann claimed was secret back-channel communications.

An FBI cyber expert testified Tuesday that the bureau's counterintelligence unit opened an investigation into former President Trump's alleged ties to a Russian bank in September 2016, even though his team had raised questions about the evidence provided by a Clinton campaign attorney.
