The number of new COVID-19 infections in Japan’s capital city was less than those a week prior for the eighth day in a row, according to Japanese media and government reports.
U.S. Forces Japan on Monday reported 137 new cases at 15 installations and 10 individuals awaiting confirmation, according to its daily update. USFJ reported 162 new cases Friday.
Denny Tamaki said he wrote the commander of III Marine Expeditionary Force to ask that U.S. troops on Okinawa remain on their installations, despite the end of a three-week COVID-19 confinement order.
The U.S. military population looked forward to Monday and an end to three weeks of being confined mostly to their installations or their off-base homes.
