The Indian Air Force celebrates success with the SAMAR air defence missile system, an indigenous innovation derived from old Russian air-to-air missiles. During Exercise AstraShakti-2023, the system showcased its prowess by engaging aerial threats with a 2 to 2.5 Mach speed range. With a twin-turret launch platform, it offers versatility, capable of firing two missiles in various threat scenarios. This achievement aligns with the government s push for self-reliance, demonstrating India s strides in indigenous defense development.
