indonesian officials now saying that sonar has detected objects believed to be from airasia 8501 on the bottom of the java sea. they don t know if the airbus is in one piece or broken up. they say seven bodies were recovered overnight. the first two of those bodies just arrived in surabaya for identification. dozens of planes are combing the area for what is now a grim search and recovery operation. investigators hope they are a step closer to finding the data recorders. the so-called black boxes. the data on those devices could help determine exactly what brought this plane down. cnn s gary tuchman is live for us from indonesia. good morning, gary. reporter: christine, good morning to you, we just came back this very minute from a very moving and emotional ceremony at a naval air base here where the first two victims of this terrible plane crash were brought. 110 indonesian army air force

under the title no shows. those are people who whatever reason missed the flight. that includes a married couple and an infant who missed that flight. that s the luckiest thing that s ever happened. you can imagine the feelings of those people. is it true that the flight took off a little bit ahead of schedule. . and that might be why some people missed it? reporter: right, what happens was the schedule had changed last week you know sometimes when you buy a ticket the time changes and the airline usually e-mails you a message. the airline e-mailed the message. not everyone got it. they showed up at the airport and they found out the plane was about to leave. that is just those little vagaries of life you know just those little things that can be so important. gary tuchman, thank you for that. so far searchers have recovered seven bodies from airasia 8501. but as we mentioned the search has been halted due to weather. i want to bring in cnn s david
pilot asked air traffic control for permission to turn left and ascend from 32,000 feet to 38,000 feet to avoid storm clouds. the turn was approved but the request to climb was denied due to heavy traffic. this is the last known communication from the crew. the weather conditions were not good. but further than that we don t want to speculate. a green grab reportedly leaked by an air traffic controller good appears to show flight qz-8501 rising in altitude but losing speed. traveling at a velocity too slow to sustain flight. airasia says at 6:24 a.m., it lost contact with flight 8501. at 7:55 a.m., the flight is officially declared missing. the indonesian authorities leading the multinational search effort say the missing plane is likely at the bottom of the sea. so crews are focusing on this broad, yet shallow air, between
