“The two largest operators in India, Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel, have been the primary drivers of the 5G rollout in the country, making significant efforts to provide 5G coverage across the nation through rapid deployment,” Affandy Johan, Industry Analyst at Ookla said in a report released Sunday.
Bharati Airtel and Reliance Jio are likely to withdraw their unlimited 5G data plans in the second half of 2024 and charge at least 5-10% extra than the current 4G tariff to boost revenue growth.
Bharti Airtel: “.using these digital assets, which is a network or a platform which is hyper scalable, and you create the data points and automate those data points. You then create an autonomous system which is able to process all those data points, and finally go to the customer with that. This is the 5G difference,” the Jio CTO said.
Ericsson 5G: Ericsson red-flagged that due to the current tensions between the US and China, as well as cross-strait strains, the risk to the supply of materials, components, and production timelines “has increased”, which may affect the company’s large projects, such as 5G rollout in India.
