2 arrested over killing of breastfeeding mothers in Rumbek East
Authorities in Lakes State confirmed that two suspects identified as Bol Marial Tong and Matot Mabor Anyak have been arrested by security forces in Juba over the killing of two breastfeeding mothers last month in Akot Payam of Rumbek East County.
Police chief inspector of Alualuak Payam Michael Mayor Malaak told Radio Tamazuj last Friday that the two suspects were caught at the Mabil checkpoint in Juba. The two suspects are caught and arrested in Juba by security forces. They are not yet brought to Lakes State, Mayor said.
He urged the victims families to remain patient until justice is served.,
2 people killed in Rumbek East County
Police authorities in South Sudan s Lakes State have said that armed criminals suspected to be from Aluakaluak Payam of Yirol West County killed a police officer and a civilian on Sunday.
According to the police, armed youth from Alualuak Payam of Yirol West County went and raided two ox-plows in a village in Akot Payam of Rumbek East County.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, the police chief inspector of Alualuak Payam of Yirol West county Michael Mayor Malaak said a student was killed by the owners of the stolen ox-plows as they pursued the criminals. He also added that a policeman was killed as he tried to pursue the criminals.
2 breastfeeding mothers killed in Rumbek East County
Authorities in Rumbek East County confirmed that two breastfeeding mothers were shot dead by suspected armed raiders from Yirol West County of Lakes State.
The incident occurred on Tuesday morning in Akot Payam of Rumbek East County.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, the Police in charge of Rumbek East County Brigadier General Makur Dak said that the attackers are not identified.
He revealed that one of the women who was shot died on the spot while the other succumbed to her gunshot wounds while being taken to Rumbek hospital for treatment.
Dak urged the deceased relatives to remain calm as security forces pursue the attackers.
Intercommunal fighting on-going in Lakes State
Authorities of the defunct Eastern Lakes State confirmed that inter-communal fighting between Yirol West and Rumbek East counties is on-going in Alualuak Payam after a cattle raid that left one person dead and an unknown number of homes torched in Mayom-cuei village on Sunday.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Monday, the Executive Director of Ngop, Benjamin Mayor Deng said the incident was triggered when armed youth from Alualuak Payam of Yirol West County raided over 70 head of cattle and killed a cattle owner in Akot Payam of Rumbek East county on Sunday evening.
Mayor said when the incident occurred, the armed youth from Rumbek East County of the defunct Western Lakes State attacked the area of Mayom-cuei village and burned down houses.
