Book you talk about the Golden Triangle of freedom. Your leaping right in, arent you . I have to tell you people always ask me how i write my books and with this book if you can keep it which is my newest book, the book on luther is coming out in a couple weeks but this book im talking about america and at the very heart of it is the Golden Triangle of freedom. But what i find funny is that i never heard of it, no ones ever heard of it. A number of years ago dear friend of mine Alec Guinness wrote a book calleda free peoples philistine. Again all founders understood this. Quickly its that freedom requires virtue. When we say freedom we mean selfgovernment requires a virtue. Virtue in turn requires faith and then faith in turn requires freedom. To explain it, the founder said they wrote this over and over and over. You cant have selfgovernment or actual freedom unless the people govern themselves, which is to say less the people have some semblance of virtue, you cant force people to go
More regulations, no drilling, war on coal, everything you saw from Obama Hillary clinton would have done on steroids, at least thats what she ran on. Neil she would probably ram that through republican congress. Would have been tough. You have a republican congress. Neil youre absolutely right. You literally have a stopgap on everything, marginally upside surprises which is health care maybe some day. Who knows. Neil they dont give that up do they . Taxes. Taxes should be cut. Neil it is getting later and later. Here is the other positive for the market. A lot of people are telling me tax cuts are not really priced into this thing. What it is working on essentially decent to middling Economic Growth like obamaesque Economic Growth between one and two, somewhere in that ballpark. Low inflation, low Interest Rates and decent corporate earnings, put all that together and some marginal optimism that donald trump is not a socialist, thus he wont regulate the economy. He can do a lot of thi
Senate rules will be changed because the gorsuch vote was blocked, 60 votes necessary blocked. Republicans say they have no other choice, simple majority, changing the rules, going nuclear, as it were. A development behind the scenes could have you going nuclear. Talk about bodies agreement not only to proceed on health care, by greater extension with the tax cuts. Were getting late word the president is very keen on marrying infrastructure, talking of building more roads and bridges what he can do elsewhere when it comes to Getting Health Care reworked through. Mitch mcconnell in the meantime talking about this measure, to get a simple majority vote goingnd soo neil gorsuch. I raised a point of order vote on cloture on precedent set on november 21st, 2013, is majority vote on all nominations. The precedent of november 21st, 2013, did not apply to nominations to the Supreme Court. Those nominations are considered under the plain language, rule 22. The point of order is not sustained. I
Let me go back. Pres. Roosevelt [indiscernible] prof. Dean you get a sample there. Let me give you that is amazing when you think of somebody today, that we have cell phones, just talking about the breakthrough in that presidency of a walkietalkie that was so heavy they had to carry it on their back. Anyway, nixon got the idea of taping from Lyndon Johnson predecessor, during the transition between the two presidencies. He said, i have several of the offices wired for recording, including several telephones. He said, i strongly recommend you do the same. Nixon had exactly the opposite reaction and had them all taken out. But this is the first time he had heard of president s recording. So what were the reasons that he does install . Back in the nixon white house, as we have discussed in prior lectures, there was a pretty efficient Management System, except in the instances like watergate and a few others where the Management System did not come into play. But the Management System on a
