With fun for all-ages, Washington state’s oldest, longest, continuous-running festival — the Sequim Irrigation Festival — returns this weekend for its 129th year. Spread across two weekends, Crazy Callen Weekend is up first May 3-5 with activities mostly in Carrie Blake Community Park, followed by the Grand Finale Weekend May 9-11, including the Grand Parade on May 10.
She was raised during the Great Depression, when everyone was real careful with money. She bought on sale, watched her bank accounts, bought CDs (certificates of deposit) and money market funds and “lived pretty frugally,” her cousin recalled.
The Sequim Food Bank’s Family Holiday Meal Bag Distribution program is scheduled for 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17, at Carrie Blake Community Park, 202 N. Blake Ave.
Gary Smith joked around about the seemingly lifetime appointment, but admitted the obligation of distributing thousands of dollars to meet critical needs throughout Clallam County in his friend’s name is well worth the effort.
