Police will be given extra powers to tackle antisocial behaviour in Old Leigh from this evening. A dispersal order has been put in place through parts of the town amid concerns ahead of the three-day, bank holiday weekend. But what does this order actually mean and what areas are included? Here’s what you need to know: What does a dispersal order actually do? The order gives police officers the power to remove anyone from a certain area that they believe is responsible for antisocial behaviour. People can be removed even if officers have suspicions that an individual or group may be about to cause trouble.

Southend Council urges visitors to be respectful over bank holiday weekend

Steve Moore, interim executive director for neighbourhoods and environment, has urged visitors to act responsibly while heading to Southend over the bank holiday. He said: “We really want people to come to Southend and enjoy themselves, enjoy the bank holiday weekend and enjoy the new freedoms the relaxing of lockdown restrictions brings. “However, we would also ask that those visiting the town are respectful of the area and the residents who live here. Please dispose of litter properly or take it home with you. Please park considerately of others. Please drink safely and responsibly, and if you are leaving late at night, please be mindful of noise in residential areas.

St Clement s church in Leigh targeted by vandals | Braintree and Witham Times

VILE vandals threw stones at the window of a church in Leigh, leaving behind a costly amount of damage. Stones were thrown at the large east window of St Clement s Churchyard on Leigh Hill during the senseless act. It s been reported that this is not the first time damage like this has been caused in the last two years. During the attack on Wednesday night (April 28) stones which had been individually painted by young scouts were also thrown into the bushes near the church. The stones had previously been placed around the Dunkirk Memorial in remembrance of the Leigh fishermen who died in the 1940 Dunkirk evacuation.
