That trust was given a boost last Friday when Missouri Military Academy’s runners finished second in the 4x100 and 4x200 events at the Cunningham Invitational in Louisiana. The Colonels’ Gabriel Canonico took silver in the 300 meter hurdles, chased closely by Gage Gibson of Van-Far. Community R-6’s Victoria DiSalvo picked up a second in the girls 300 hurdles while teammate Paige Meyer tied for the second spot in high jump.

Lakewood police said Selena Colon crashed into another car on Sunday, Feb. 21 on Clifton Boulevard., killing Maximus Close, 19, and Alejandro Mercado, 19. A Cleveland woman has been indicted by a grand jury for hitting and killing two Lakewood teenagers in a February crash.  According to court documents, Selena Colon, 23, has been indicted on four counts of Aggravated Vehicular Homicide, two counts of Aggravated Vehicular Assault, as well as one count of Driving Under the Influence for the Feb. 21 crash in which Maximus Close and Alejandro Mercado, both 19, were killed.

Lakewood police said Selena Colon, of North Royalton, crashed into another car on Sunday, Feb. 21 on Clifton Blvd., killing two 19-year-old Lakewood men. The victims, Maximus Close and Alejandro Mercado, graduated from Lakewood High School in 2020.

Police say, on Feb. 21, Selena Colon was drunk and going 80 miles per hour down Clifton with her headlights off when she smashed into Max Close and Alejandro Mercado, cutting their car in half and their lives short.
