So a cold start but a very nice afternoon. We will talk more about our temperatures and the wide range we will have over the next few days. Mike is tracking transit details. Especially for bart, outside station folks you have a delay out of fremont, about ten minutes, but thats tough in this colder weather. I just heard about this delay for train number 520 thats for our capital corridor line looking at out of oakland there is a 35 minute delay. There was something that held that train up from leaving, should be on its way again continuing to the end of its route. Thats just train 520 right now. Smoother drive on the roadways, you might as well drive through oakland with no major problems. We are looking to san jose with one crash just popped up, now over on the shoulder, quickly made it there northbound 101 at oakland road, that distraction might add to the build as we do have more traffic heading through the area so we will track that south bay commute. Right now Silicon Valley no re
Sergio quintana joins us with the details on the escape. Reporter well, the freeway is open, it was opened a couple hours ago, but the sheriffs deputies have been able to take that man into custody. Hes back at john george hospital. He does have injuries after being hit by a car on interstate 580. Heres some video of that man in handcuffs. According to an Alameda County sheriffs spokesman he was at the hospital on a 72 hour psychiatric hold. At 6 20 this evening he decided to leave. He walked to the Fairmont Hospital and hopped into a car there, a teenager was inside the car, waiting for his parents inside the hospital. The patient tried car jacking that vehicle with the teen inside. He crashed the car into a garbage truck, then hopped out and tried stealing another car. When that failed he ran to a nearby homeless encampment and ran onto interstate 580. He was clipped by a car, the driver was going about 65 Miles Per Hour. He survived the hit with only minor injuries. Thats when he wa
Multiple agencies are responding including Pennsylvania State Police Bethlehem township and bethlehem city. We spoke to a neighbor who lives near the scene. He did not want to be identified but he did tell us what he saw and heard from about a block away. I first realized it when i just heard a helicopter up in the air. I guess it was i dont know what it was, some helicopter. And i stepped outside, turned on the scanner and i heard Police Activity and maybe about an hour later, we heard automatic fire and bullets whizzing by so we heard a burst of automatic fire and maybe four or five shots from like a handgun or something. Reporter now, that neighbor also gave us the picture that he took showing an Armored Police vehicle with what looks like bullet holes across the front windshield. Now, he also told us he got a call from his sons middle school asking parents to pick him up rather than sending him home on the bus because of this incident. Again, a shelter is in place for this area nea
Will stick and still looking at about a coating to 2inches of snow. Then that intense cold comes in after and this is what were expecting for new years weekend. Brutal here sunday morning, feeling like zero. Dress for 5 degrees for the eagles game. If youre going there in the afternoon. The ball drop at midnight, 0 degrees. Penndot has started treating the roads early today in hopes of preventing slick spots tomorrow. Chopper6 spotted this crew on 413 in Bristol Township bucks county. You wont see any salt or brine being laid for the rest of the day because workers were sent home early so they can come back early in the morning. Crews at the ready to go out and to spray salt down throughout the region, throughout the day as ne
But, mike, youre saying extra care through the cone zone . Thats right. We always advice folks to slow down whenever we see anybody working on the roadway, caltrans crews deserve that. Looking toward where theres fog through the livermore area, kari talked about threequarters of a mile visibility, no speed slowing on most of the bay, but here its unusually jammed up eastbound 580 over toward where were doing paving work approaching grant line road. You will see flares, the closure of the off ramp possibly until 7 00 a. M. , this could be as long as that slow down lasts, you may want to use the altamonte pass road through the area as well. Again, tougher visibility where the highlight is, this yellowishorangish color that will be the factor through the trivalley. Watch the construction crews on 580 and clearing through the Oakland Hills over the next half hour. No major slowing getting towards the bay bridge, pretty smooth easy drive. There is a minor delay from bart, watching that out
