The first proposition that has been with us in this course that is central to the way that we think about American History is that the United States has always been an international society. International and obvious ways, people see the classroom with having people of different backgrounds and areas of the world, but also international in the sense that the United States has always depended upon the movement of people, the movement of goods, and the movement of finances from far away.
