Women Rise Higher At Shell | Global Finance Magazine

Women Rise Higher At Shell Advertisement January 07, 2021 Stacie Pitts is set to become the most powerful woman in a world of men. Royal Dutch Shell, the largest global oil and gas global trader, has promoted Pitts—now general manager of global gasoline—to lead its crude-oil trading business. According to Bloomberg, which broke the story, Pitts will oversee buying and selling some eight million barrels of oil a day: enough to cover the entire demand of Italy, France, Spain, Germany and the UK. Shell has elevated two other women to senior trading roles as well: Carolyn Comer, currently vice president of downstream strategy and portfolio; and Alice Acuna, who will be the new chief of liquefied natural gas trading. A fourth woman will be taking on a senior position: Karrie Trauth, as general manager for shipping and maritime technology.

Oil Back Above $50 After Tanker Explosion Near Saudi Port

Oil Edges Higher Despite OPEC’s Lower Demand View, Lockdowns Bloomberg 12/14/2020 Andres Guerra Luz and Alex Longley (Bloomberg) -- Oil inched up as the market weighed the risks of toughening restrictions in New York and London ahead of a widely available vaccine. Popular Searches Futures closed at a fresh nine-month high after swinging between gains and losses earlier. The U.S. began administering the Covid-19 vaccine alongside nationwide immunization campaigns in other countries, presenting a path toward a normalization of crude demand. Still, price gains remain limited as reopening plans around the world are impacted by the virus’ spread. London is increasing pandemic restrictions this week amid warnings of a new variant of the disease, while New York City’s mayor said residents should be prepared for a full lockdown. Meanwhile, the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries reduced projections for global fuel consumption in the first quarter of 2021 by 1 million barrels a day.

Oil’s Female Trading Trio Belies Industry’s Gender Gap Bloomberg 12/12/2020 Laura Hurst, Andy Hoffman and Javier Blas © Bloomberg A Shell logo sits on a totem sign at a Royal Dutch Shell Plc petrol filling station in Ewell, U.K., on Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2020. Royal Dutch Shell Plc will cut as many as 9,000 jobs as Covid-19 accelerates a company-wide restructuring into low-carbon energy. (Bloomberg) -- As a trio of women is set to ascend to the top of one of the world’s most powerful oil-trading operations, the gender gap in the rest of the industry remains stark. Popular Searches Royal Dutch Shell Plc has promoted Stacie Pitts, Carolyn Comer and Alice Acuna to lead three of the five biggest trading businesses in the company. It follows London-based rival BP Plc, which earlier this year appointed Carol Howle to lead its giant trading and shipping unit.
