A Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration was held at the Culture Center and West Virginia State Capitol in Charleston Monday. About 100 attendees heard music from the Martin Luther King Jr. Male Chorus and Capital High School VIP Choir at the Culture Center. Dr. Elisha Lewis gave a keynote speech on concepts of King s nonviolence. About 20 marchers braved the cold and snow and marched to the Capitol to ring a bell in honor of the day.

The Arkansas Scholarship Lottery raised $114.7 million for college scholarships in fiscal year 2023 that ended June 30, which is the largest amount the lottery has produced for college scholarships in any fiscal year, the lottery reported Monday.
