McDONOUGH — An Ellenwood man will spend life in prison after opening fire on his family as they were packing to move, resulting in the death of a 19-year-old man.
Prosecutors accused 80-year-old Hailu Abebe of coming out of his house and shooting at a moving truck. A bullet wounded the 19-year-old victim, who tried to run and fell in the yard. That's when a prosecutor said Hailu Abebe walked over and fired the fatal shot.
