Officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC) have grilled top directors of the Central Bank of Nigeria over their roles in the N2 billion loan given to the National President of the National Cotton Association of Nigeria (NACOTAN), Anibe Achimugu. Achimugu is also the Managing Director of Arewa Cotton and Allied Products Limited. Sources told SaharaReporters that the CBN directors were grilled for hours by EFCC investigators over the loan during the week.

The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele has refused to return to Nigeria amid allegations of terrorism financing and possible arrest and attention by the secret police. A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has declined an application by the secret police, Department of State Services (DSS) to arrest and detain Godwin Emefiele, governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). The DSS or State Security Service (SSS) had accused Emefiele of allegedly aiding and abetting acts of terrorism. The security agency said the CBN governor is involved in the financing of terrorism.

Citizens Initiative for Better Nigeria (CIBN) has called for the immediate sacking of the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources and governorship candidate of All Progressives (APC) Timipre Sylva over alleged irregularities in his academic certificates. The group also threatened to lead a protest and barricade the National Assembly Complex, Aso Rock Villa and Bayelsa State Government House next week to demand that Sylva be brought to justice as a matter of urgency.
