Unlike a season ago, though, there is a greater sense of optimism that the Pistons will get back into contention. Through the 2020-21 season, Detroit leaned into the restoration of the franchise moving on from talent from previous regimes. They then signed players that fit the timeline for the retooling as well as the defensive identity they were building. So led by Pistons general manager Troy Weaver, the team won’t give up until the job is done.
