The residents and those who visit the lake are urging the Zonal Commissioner to prioritise developmental works to preserve the lake and prevent any health issues for people residing in the vicinity of the water body. Residents are specifically demanding the removal of the idol immersion pond, which has become a health hazard. The people visiting the lake for walks in the morning and evening are finding it difficult to cope with bad odour emanating from the defunct pond that is filled with garbage and weeds.
Deteriorating water quality due to pollution has become a cause of concern for lake activists, especially the members of Yelahanka United Environment Association (YUVA), who are working hard to protect and preserve the lake.
