GREENFORD – Green Township trustees this week rejected an offer from the Mill Creek MetroParks for property that falls within a proposed bike trail expansion.
Trustees rejected an offer of $14,400 from the MetroParks for a one-acre parcel on Calla Road where the expansion will curve around a railbed, which is the only access drive for a home there. The previous offer was $6,000.
Trustees are involved in an ongoing court case fighting against the MetroParks’ eminent domain lawsuit.
The MetroParks Bikeway is one section of the proposed 100-mile Great Ohio Lake to River Greenway, a developing corridor that will allow trail users to travel from Lake Erie to the Ohio River. The MetroParks trail runs along the old Niles and Lisbon Branch of the Erie Railroad Company railroad bed and currently ends at Western Reserve Road.
