of kalw being part of the project. i was ex sighted about that. my mind starts racing when i think about creative collaboration in a space like that. opportunities that could serve students, and the listening public. as excited as i am by those prospects, i am stepping down as general manager. i ve come to the conclusion at this point klaw needs more than a station manager, it needs an executive who can lead it as a critical community institution. and after a lot of reflection i came to the conclusion i am not that leader. in my packet of materials that we handed out to you i have the fall programme guide where i explain my decision and an essay where i talked about the job of being kalw s g.m. and what i see ahead for the station. it will give you a good idea of where i m coming from. as you begin work with a new general manager, i strongly encourage the board and district leadership to take care with this creative community enterprise and take a long view of its relationshi
hello and welcome to public works tv. my name is natasha reed and i m a structural engineer for public works and today i ll be your host. before we get started let s take a quick back look at this past week. chinatown sidewalks are really starting to look good thanks to the hard work of a new crew of street works who are sprucing up the historic neighborhoods. last week we started on the pedestrians bridge who will connect the mondscone campus north and south. [ inaudible ] to find employment with the homeless and help them get off the streets and into how stion. we also celebrated black history month to recognize celebrations and achievements of black americans here in the united states and in public works. the third street bridge is located near at&t park. it carries thousands of vehicles, pedestrians and bicyclists over mission creek tunnel every day. we at public works are proud to be the caretakers of this classic draw bridge, keep it in shape whil
meeting to go over their overview with our project leadership. they have delivered a project plan which we will be finalizing over the next few months. and they have also delivered their direction-setting schedule so we could start scheduling our people to meet and go over the direction setting. (please stand by). but we re going to make sure everybody is on the same page. we ll be on boarding the employees that will be transfering to this effort. groupwork and key organizational scoping questions are being answered right now. preparation for direction setting, that is happening at this time. so we have a lot of work to get ready to build. but we have to have a lot of questions answered and we have to get everybody ready. so, we do have some risk. and the leadership is aware of this. so, i believe this is something that we could manage and what is a risk this is not a show-stopper risk, but one other big risk is the upcoming direction setting session will require significan

(applause) we all know no project happens without the partnership of the actual contractor. so we re going to ask the contractor from alton construction to come up and say a few words. i will tell you, i have made quite a number of visits to the site during constructions and some of the beams and bolts are the largest and strongest i have seen in construction. being built, i know this is not going anywhere. welcome. come say a few words. (applause) they don t usually let us talk at these things. rolling the dice with that one. i m the vice president of operations for alton construction. we are the general contractor on this project obviously. for the last 20 plus years we have operated almost exclusively in the public sector, schools, police stations
