The second complaint filed against the schools leaders in the last two months says the state of affairs at Southside is at an "epic level of untenability."

In the face of pressure from current and former employees, the district has agreed to hire an outside investigator to look into complaints involving the top administrators at Southside Elementary.

A group of current and former teachers have filed a complaint, which they discussed with the Wisconsin State Journal earlier this month.

The new school sits in the heart of the mostly minority, low-income Rimrock neighborhood, part of Madison and the school districts efforts to address racial inequities.

There are still 92 unfilled full- and part-time teaching positions, compared to 141 open teaching positions three weeks before school started in 2022.
