A man convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison over a 30-year-old Pueblo gang killing will be released from prison next month after receiving clemency from Gov. Jared Polis, who on Thursday granted 21 pardons and commuted seven sentences for people in Colorado's criminal justice system.
The Colorado Supreme Court upheld the Medicaid fraud conviction of a Garfield County woman on Monday.
In a 4-3 decision, the high court said the Colorado Court of Appeals shouldnât have reduced a lower courtâs felony conviction of Garfield County resident Alma Vidauri for defrauding the state in Medicaid and Child Health Plan Plus benefits.
Vidauri had been convicted in a Garfield County district court for under-reporting her income in order to receive more benefits. The appeals court, which said the prosecution failed to show that she had been ineligible for the additional benefits, reduced her 2016 felony conviction to petty theft.
