The 2021 Marigold Festival will be held virtually this year, with a concert livestreamed from the Winterville Auditorium.
The May 8 festival, a decades-long tradition for the Clarke County town, was canceled last year due to the coronavirus pandemic. This year, the festival’s board of directors decided to go virtual to maintain the festival.
“We really wanted to do something for the community and we wanted to keep that date, the Saturday before Mother’s Day,” Amanda Mooney, a festival volunteer and a member of the city council, said.
The Pink Stones, a country-rock group from Athens, will perform.
“We’re also going to highlight our sponsors who have stuck with us,” Mooney said. “When the festival was canceled last year, most of our sponsors kept their support and we were able to do some awesome community outreach with the money.
