Good evening, everyone. Thank you for coming, and welcome. My name is Amanda Woodward and i am the dean of the division of social sciences here at the university of chicago. Im just delighted to be here with this group of faculty for this event. This evening is continuing a yearlong series of events at the university of chicago commemorating the 75th 75th anniversary of the selfsustaining Nuclear Chain reaction that happened just over there. And over the past five months there have been events across campus commemorating the breakthrough and exploring the experiments longterm impact and defense has presented opportunities to engage scientist, are artists, policymakers and the public around a set of issues that grow from that original event 75 years ago.
