Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced the move in a statement explaining that sanctions and visa restrictions imposed by President Donald Trump against ICC Prosecutor Fatou Bensouda â whose term at the Court has since ended â and Phakiso Mochochoko, head of jurisdiction at the ICC Prosecutorâs Office as well as other personnel were lifted because âthe measures adopted were inappropriate and ineffective.â
âWe continue to disagree strongly with the ICCâs actions relating to the Afghanistan and Palestinian situations,â Blinken said in his statement on Friday.
âWe maintain our longstanding objection to the Courtâs efforts to assert jurisdiction over personnel of non-States Parties such as the United States and Israel.
