The legislation would require a search warrant prior to the use of drones for any law enforcement purposes in most situations. It would also require police to get a search warrant before obtaining any data or information collected by a privately operated drone. Under the law, police would be able to use a drone without a warrant for search and rescue operations and to survey conditions in dangerous areas after a natural disaster.

The legislation would remove marijuana from the state's list of banned substances and strike provisions in current law that refer to criminal penalties for cannabis-related offenses. The proposed law would not create any kind of tax or regulatory program for marijuana. It would effectively become legal to possess, cultivate, buy, and sell cannabis just like tomatoes.

The Kentucky Senate gave final approval to a bill that would ban state and local enforcement of any federal gun control enacted or implemented after Jan. 1, 2021. This includes the new ATF rule on pistol braces. Passage into law would take a step toward ending some federal acts that infringe on the right to keep and bear arms within the state.
