Toronto artist Amer Sal Mohammed, or Amer SM is clowning around with his latest piece featuring none other than Ontario Premier Doug Ford and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau dressed up as Ronald McDonald and Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker.
The piece is titled “Welcome to Canada” and it’s part of his very first NFT collection. It includes an animated GIF of the money burning as it pours down around Ford and Trudeau as they shake hands.
“Watching social media is what inspired me to create this piece. Given the current health climate, the masses on social media seem to be coping with the unknown through comedy or trolling. Over time, I have noticed that the comment section on all posts regarding their names is filled with the clown emoji,” he explained on the bidding page for the piece. “Hence, the idea sparked to paint them as actual clowns. The animated piece, entitled
Welcome to Canada, features caricatures of Ontario Premier Doug Ford, rendered to resemble Ronald McDonald, shaking hands with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made up to resemble The Joker.
The animated NFT version depicts the two standing among stacks of cash in front of the doors to the House of Commons in Centre Block, while $100 bills rain down on them.
The winning bidder will receive a 30-inch by 40-inch physical, non-animated version of the painting to hang in their home.
Mohammed says social media served as his inspiration.

In what feels like a mad lib of the past year, a Toronto artist who has created work for Drake and Fred Van Vleet has made an NFT portrait portraying Justin Trudeau and Doug Ford as a pair of clowns.
Although April Fools was over six weeks ago, this totally real creation has all the makings of a joke, with Trudeau and Ford dressed as Joaquin Phoenix s Joker and Ronald McDonald, each with their own comically sized speech bubble like they were pulled right out of the Saturday morning comic strip this belongs in.
