Congress leader Pawan Khera said the decision to not attend shows by certain journalists is a non-cooperation movement, not a boycott. The list includes Arnab Goswami, Sudhir Chaudhary, Navika Kumar, and others.

Khera said that the alliance does not "hate any of these friends of ours in the media", adding that "they may have their compulsions".

Replying to Bharatiya Janata Party's president JP Nadda's allegations, Siddaramaiah said that prime minister Narendra Modi has boycotted every journalist in the country by not addressing a single press conference in the last 10 years.
