KARACHI: Taking notice of the absence of the provincial local government (LG) secretary despite issuance of directives, the Sindh High Court on Thursday summoned him personally on March 3 to explain the position regarding formation of bye-laws to deal with the matter of stray dogs under the Local Government Act, 2013.
A two-judge bench, comprising Justices Muhammad Ali Mazhar and Amjad Ali Sahito, passed this direction while hearing a petition seeking to control the population of stray dogs and ensuring availability of free anti-rabies vaccine in the province.
KARACHI: The Sindh High Court on Wednesday sought a reply from the provincial government in a petition against launching of commercial projects on mangroves land in twin islands of Bundal and Buddo off Karachi’s coast.
A two-judge bench comprising Justices Muhammad Ali Mazhar and Amjad Ali Sahito was hearing a set of petitions challenging the vires of the Pakistan Islands Development Authority (PIDA) Ordinance promulgated by the federal government in September last year.
During Wednesday’s proceedings, assistant attorney general Hussain Bohra submitted that the ordinance had already lapsed on Jan 3.
However, he requested time to seek instructions from the federal authorities in this regard.

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court on Monday directed the agriculture secretary and the deputy commissioners of Korangi and Malir districts to submit their respective reports regarding action taken by them to stop cultivation of vegetables using sewage.

The Sindh High Court has summoned replies from the law ministry and others in a case against the theft of Pakistanis data. The bench expressed its displeasure at the federal government for failing to enact a law on personal data protection. Reports have also been summoned from the attorney general and IT ministry.
