A house fire that killed seven people, including four children, in Chestermere, Alta., at the start of July has been deemed non-suspicious by investigators.

The Chestermere home along Oakmere Close was owned by Amjad Kamal, neighbour Khaleel Bhatti told Postmedia. The fire occurred while Amjad, his wife Batool Rashid and their five children were hosting his brother Asad Kamal, his wife Rafiya Kamal and their three children.

RCMP Cpl. Tammy Keibel said the investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing, though there is still no indication that the cause is criminal in nature.
