Bayelsa Guber: Court Hears Ineligibility Case Against Maciver Friday

There is tension in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State capital, over the resumed hearing of the substantive suit filed against the Bayelsa All Progressives Congress,

But the Civil Society group, Coalition for Social Justice and Equity Initiative, through its Public Relations Officer, Ezra Areo, argued that Maciver was allegedly convicted by an honourable court, and was sent to Kaduna State to serve his 10 years sentence for sea piracy and terrorism. Maciver, according to the group, however, did not complete his sentence and escaped from prison by allegedly pretending to be sick and needing treatment.

The APC stakeholders insisted that Timipre Sylva, again did a great disservice to the party by presenting a Deputy Governorship candidate with shady history, and “by the provisions of section 31, 33 and 34 of the Electoral Act, the time for nomination of a new running mate has lapsed. It simply means that the candidature of Timipre Sylva cannot stand alone without having a qualified deputy.”

NDDC, Amnesty programme not serving interest of Niger Delta people –Attah

Elder statesman and South South Leader, Chief Edwin Clark; representatives of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) and the Ijaw National Congress (INC); ex-agitators and other prominent stakeholders of the Niger Delta region have affirmed that the Presidential Amnesty Program (PAP) has brought relative and sustainable peace for oil and gas activities to thrive in the region.

Pa Edwin Clark has encouraged President Bola Tinubu to give more attention to the Presidential Amnesty Programme to sustain peace in the oil-rich Niger Delta.
