Koonts was it . Were you kind of the expert . With steve i contributed to two original fiction anthologies at his request. Steve had just been a marvelous friend and colleague and in 1984 our mutual publisher Naval Institute press, had sent me a manuscript written by a vietnam war aviator could for each other. And the publisher asked my opinion, and i said this book so good if you dont publish it, i will. And the next year it was published as flight of the intruder. So steve and i have kept in touch ever since. And then the harold coyle trilogy was for forge. He came up with the concept of a Foreign Military contractor that does deniable work for the u. S. Going to go down as a result of the refugee overflow. So a story being written. Priscilla gaines. I work a lot with professionals to deal with abuse. He said part of building resiliency is learning how to fail successfully. I love that. Could you talk a little bit about the youth and building resiliency through the parents and educators . Absolutely. I think we really do need to redefine what skills our Education System is trying to train for. Walter spoke eloquently in the last session about science and humanities and all of those. Obviously im an educator and i believe that all of those are critical but we need to teach our children how to cope successfully, how to fail more safely how to draw outside the lines, not just draw inside the lines. Our Education System is often focused on learning how to draw inside the lines. I think now i hope through this book and her other books that educators particularly in k12 will be thinking about that because we are losing our integration capaci

The American People will recognize what the leadership is in the senate. And theres elected leadership posts and then theres people who represent through a vision what the American People want and are willing to stand up for that. And theres hundreds of thousands of people in america that feel the way i do, and we need them to step forward. But also we need them to hold others accountable. I dont worry about all that. You know, the fact is that theres a truth out there about what our problems are, and what some of the solutions are. And what we need is people speaking that truth, and not being afraid to take the consternation of their peers and the cold shoulders that you get about speaking what the facts are and the system is ill. The system has some sickness, and what im trying to do is give it an antibiot
Ill start from sip the fact were going have to deal not only with nation states that are going to have crises and groups and individuals that are highly empowered and able to bring threat against nation of the capability most addressing the likely. The second thing, we have to bring down the alliance on Strategic Deterrent and increase the reliance on other capability and tools diplomatic and military for strategic defense. The technology and capabilities and the architecture that would allow us to have those kinds of capabilities at the strategic level to deter conflict and increase other options so that our state options dont run out prematurely or less than effective against the wide range of threat. We have to increase the tools on the state craft to prevent these thick things. Making sure its still an element of membership and nato. You commit to your defense goals. The second thing i would say is to really look at those things which could enable nato at large to take greater adva
