“We now see Washington has now cooked up their latest ‘debt deal.’ And I can tell you this, our nation was careening towards bankruptcy before the debt deal," Ron DeSantis said. 

The governor signed legislation Friday changing some of Iowa's child labor regulations, allowing longer hours and jobs serving alcohol.

Several Republican lawmakers said that DeSantis is the partys hope in restoring "sanity" and fighting for "freedom."

The Florida governor, who is set to confirm his 2024 bid, will need to beat the former president in the GOP primary.

Ex-President Donald Trump canceled a planned outdoor rally in Iowa Saturday amid a tornado watch, but his presence in race loomed at DeSantis events.

DeSantis, who is expected to jump into the presidential race imminently, did not discuss Trump by name.

DeSantis is scheduled to hold a pair of events Saturday in Sioux Center and Cedar Rapids — the same day former President Donald Trump is set to appear at a rally in Des Moines.
