the former channeler of d.c. schools that kicked up controversy when she fired hundreds of teachers as part of the approach to fix the schools. i spoke to her about her appearance in the movie waiting for superman which talks about ways to fix the school. earlier today she announced she s launching an education advocacy group. her website went live a few hours ago and from the tone of the group s mission statement, it sounds like she s taking on more of a political role in her efforts to clean up the country s education system. part of the mission statement on the website reads together we ll demand that legislators, courts, district administrators and school boards create and enforce policies that put students first. we ll make sure politicians and administrators recognize and reward excellent teachers whereby give movies teachers the training they need and quickly improve or remove ineffective educators. she will unveil her new ideas this afternoon on oprah. another controversial
