For the week ending December 5, initial claims for unemployment insurance (UI) totaled 8,783, up 2,341 claims, or 36.3 percent, compared to the previous week’s total of 6,442 claims, according to finalized data from the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation (DETR).

According to the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation’s (DETR) July 2020 economic report, employment in Nevada realized an increase of 14,800 jobs over the month and saw a decrease of -138,700 jobs since July 2019, or -9.8%. The total employment level in the State is 1,281,100.

For the week ending December 12, initial claims for Unemployment Insurance (UI) totaled 9,027, up 244 claims, or 2.8 percent, compared to the previous week’s total of 8,783 claims, according to finalized data from the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation (DETR).

For the week ending November 28, initial claims for unemployment insurance (UI) totaled 6,442, down 1,679 claims, or 20.7 percent, compared to the previous week’s total of 8,121 claims, according to finalized data from the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation (DETR).

Finalized data from the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation (DETR) show initial claims for unemployment insurance (UI) totaled 17,755 for the week ending August 8, up 4,028 claims, or 29.3 percent, compared to last week’s total of 13,727 claims.

Nevada added 7,700 jobs in July, with employment having fully recovered the jobs lost in the pandemic, and is now up 12,200 jobs since February 2020, according to the states Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation’s July 2022 economic report.

Statewide, the unemployment rate fell to a seasonally-adjusted 5.1 percent in December, down 0.1 of a percentage point from November, the lowest it has been in nine years, according to figures released Tuesday by the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation.
