TIRUPATI: Telugu Desam party suffered a humiliating defeat in the municipal and corporation elections in Andhra Pradesh, the results of which were declared on Sunday. Giving a major jolt to Telugu Desam chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu, the YSR Congress has stormed again into Naidu’s native Chittoor district and snatched all the two corporations and four municipalities.
The grand success for the ruling party in the Gram Panchayat polls was repeated in the urbal local body polls too, wherein the YSRC again put up an impressive show, so much so the TD failed to grab even a single municipality or corporation. The YSRC won as many as 228 of the 247 wards in all the six civic bodies in the district that went to polls on March 10.

Three TD candidates of Anantapur Municipal Corporation have quit TD so far and joined YSRC

ANANTAPUR : YSRC is continuing to have an upper hand in municipal polls with TD unable to field its candidates from several municipal wards in various parts of Andhra Pradesh. For example, YSRC has bagged Dhone and Atmakur municipalities in Kurnool district after its candidates won from majority of the wards unanimously.
In Dhone municipality, YSRC candidates have won 22 of the total 32 municipal wards without contest as Telugu Desam, Congress, BJP, or left parties failed to field candidates in these wards. Likewise, in Atmakur municipality, after withdrawal of nominations, ruling party has won 15 of the 24 municipal wards unanimously.

Anantapur: The super specialty hospital at Anantapur, being set up as part of post-bifurcation package, will soon start providing services to people of Anantapur as also those from the surrounding districts of Rayalaseema.
