Goldenberg EDWARDSVILLE A woman claims a Missouri finance company is operating in Illinois without a license and charging consumers excessive interest rates.  Terrie Luster, individually and on behalf of all others similarly situated filed a complaint  May 13 in the Madison County Circuit Court against JRE Financial LLC, doing business as AAA Community Finance, alleging engaging in business without a license, violation of the Illinois Consumer Installment Loan Act and the Illinois Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act and unjust enrichment. According to her complaint, Luster was issued a $475 loan by AAA in August and was charged an annual percentage rate of 786.72%, which exceeds Illinois law. Luster also alleges AAA is operating in the state without a license from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.

Goldenberg EDWARDSVILLE A woman claims Illinois-based lender AAA Community Finance charged excessive interest rates and does business without a license.  Terrie Luster, individually and on behalf of all others similarly situated, filed a complaint May 13 in the Madison County Circuit Court against JRE Financial LLC, doing business as AAA Community Finance, alleging violation of the Consumer Installment Loan Act and Illinois Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act, unjust enrichment and engaging in lending business without a license. According to the complaint, Luster was issued a loan by AAA in August 2020 for $475 with an annual percentage rate of 786.72% which is greater than the maximum of 99% allowed by Illinois law. She alleges that she made regular payments on the loan and eventually paid $1,400 to AAA before she stopped making payments. Luster claims AAA is not licensed with the Illinois Department of Financial & Professional

Edwardsville says property owners failed to take steps to minimize, repair alleged damages from park construction

Pierce The City of Edwardsville argues that property owners failed to take reasonable steps to repair their property or minimize damage in a suit alleging the plaintiffs’ land was damaged by construction of a new public park.  Plaintiffs Janet and John Long filed the complaint on Feb. 1 against the City of Edwardsville, alleging they own approximately 46.81 acres of land located on Long Branch Drive in Edwardsville. The city owns three adjoining parcels of land, totaling approximately 77.13 acres. The plaintiff’s property has a creek, which extends from the southern property line to the north and connects to a pond and a lake on the property. 

Class action alleges SuperValu coffee is fraudulently advertised

Goldenberg EDWARDSVILLE A class action lawsuit alleges SuperValu s Essential Everyday-brand marketing is misleading because its packaged contents do not make the amount of coffee as advertised.  Tayler Shelton, individually and on behalf of all others similarly situated, filed a complaint March 8 in the Madison County Circuit Court against SuperValu Inc. and United Natural Foods Inc., alleging violation of the Illinois Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Ac and unjust enrichment. Shelton alleges in her class action complaint that the defendants are misrepresenting the amount of cups of coffee that can be made from one of the canisters of their Essential Everyday-brand ground coffee. She also claims the labeling on the products are deceiving to consumers.
