Last night, the Fannin Rebels traveled to Rabun County to take on the Wildcats for their first game in two weeks. Fannin had just come from a win against Union County and hoped to continue the trend.
Fannin started off with the lead as Jordan Bennett put the ball into action and scored a three-point shot to start off the first quarter. Bennett led the Rebels in scoring for the night with 13 points overall. Kaeden Twiggs was right behind the Junior as he drove through the defense and added 11 of his own points to the Rebel’s score. The Wildcats followed suit and made three-point shots of their own to take the lead and end the first quarter with a score of 18-8.
As our team has been doing some reflecting on this past football season for the GHSA, we have narrowed down our top 3 games of the year we covered in 2020.
Fannin vs Pace Academy 1st round GHSA 2a playoffs
Fannin 28 Pace 21
This was the lone playoff matchup to make our list. Fannin played host to Pace Academy the Saturday after Thanksgiving, in a game that was close in its entirety. Both teams were tied at a touchdown a piece heading into the locker room, but coming out of the halftime gate Pace jumped out to a 21-7 lead, the largest deficit Fannin had seen all year. The resiliency of the Rebels paid off however, as they were able to put up 28 unanswered points and win the ball game 28-21.
