BRASILIA (Reuters) - Brazilian President-elect Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva is expected to tap former Sao Paulo Mayor Fernando Haddad in coming days to be his finance minister, people familiar with the deliberations told Reuters on Tuesday.

Despite being one of the most leftist presidents South America has ever had, Lula is actually forming a mixed economics team to handle Brazil's floundering economy as he prepares his transition as the next president of Brazil.

Brazil's nomination to head the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) is facing resistance among allies of leftist presidential frontrunner Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, who want him to have a formal say if he wins office this month. The government of right-wing President Jair Bolsonaro has already begun seeking regional support for its nominee to run the development bank.
