The New York based JOFFREY BALLET CONCERT GROUP will appear Sunday May 14th, 7:30 pm at The Riverside Theater, located in Riverside Church, NYC. The dancers will appear in works by Artistic Director Bradley Shelver and young choreographer Eric Trope, and will be joined by guest youth company, Le Jeune Ballet of Blue Ash Ohio, under the direction of former Joffrey Ballet dancer Steve Beirens.

Fandango, Ensemble Galante invited him and violin/viola player Karina Schmitz to come across and join them for a concert of Spanish-influenced music with guitar. I d already planned to go to both performances but had I only attended the Friday I d have been satisfied greatly by the music. As it is I went back again. Baroque and Wine: A Trip to Würzburg
The composer Andrea Falconieri, who lived in Naples, was one of the first to popularize the dance rhythms of the folia around the year 1650. From Naples, the folia spread to Rome and Venice, and on to central Europe. This program takes us along on that journey.
A young organist and composer in Cremona, Italy by the name of Tarquinio Merula used the crazy obsessive rhythm of the folia in songs like Folle é ben che si crede, beginning with the words: Anyone who thinks that I can be kept away from my sweetheart by tender glances or by slander is crazy.

A Baroque Tour will explore the glorious sonic landscapes of Italy, Spain, France, England, and Germany through masterworks by Vivaldi, Falconieri, De Castro, Charpentier, Guillermain, Purcell, Handel, and Buxtehude. Our program ensemble consists of five strings plus harpsichord, and we are thrilled that baroque bassoon virtuoso Marc Vallon will join us for Vivaldiâs exuberant Bassoon Concerto in Bb major.
