Power from Capital Power’s planned Enchant Solar plant will help Budweiser toward its goal to use only renewable power in beer production by 2025, the two companies announced on Monday.
Labatts Canada, which brews the iconic American beer in Canada, and the Edmonton-based power producer said they have an agreement for half the power produced at the new facility west of Medicine Hat to offset power used at breweries.
The solar facility is planned to produce 75 megawatts of power during peak conditions at the site in the Municipal District of Taber. Construction is planned to begin in the spring of 2022 and be completed by the end of that year.
