A new grant program in Bedford County will benefit hospitality businesses that have been negatively impacted by the coronavirus pandemic. The COVID-19 Hospitality Industry Recovery Program (CHIRP), which was recently passed by the state Legislature, will allocate $547,000 to Bedford County. The funding is part of the $145 million that will be distributed statewide, with county allocations based on population. “We’re very pleased to offer this program to our hospitality businesses,” the county commissioners said in a joint statement. “The industry has been devastated by the pandemic. Since the legislation was passed in early February, we have been diligently working access these monies and launch the application process.”
