The Supreme Court on Friday decided to list on October 10, 2023, the appeal filed by the tech giant Google challenging the order dated 29.03.2023 passed by the National Company Law appellate Tribunal.
The contest between Google and CCI was among the most high-profile battles globally between a tech giant and a regulator, one that was being followed closely by governments across the world.
The order upheld a penalty imposed earlier on Google by the Competition Commission of India for its anti-competitive conduct in the Android ecosystem, saying some of Google’s practices pointed to an abuse of dominance.
The National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (“NCLAT”), Principal Bench, comprising of Justice Ashok Bhushan (Chairperson) and Dr. Alok Srivastava (Technical Member), while adjudicating an appeal.
