Cardinals win playoff title, earn NCAA bid (5/26/2021) It wasn’t supposed to end this way.  The Saint Mary’s University (SMU) baseball team had its sights set on its first-ever Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Playoff title — and the Cardinals’ first NCAA Division III National Tournament appearance since 1993. If you asked coach Nick Winecke what his favorite number was, he might have answered number one — the number he wore during his pla...

(5/5/2021) If Saint Mary’s University baseball coach Nick Winecke was concerned that his squad might show any ill effects after dropping the first two games of their three-game Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference series against St. Olaf College, the Cardinals quickly put those fears to rest. Anderson delivered a one-out, walk-off double — preserving Wolfe’s four-hit, complete-game gem, and lifting the Cardinals to a 2-1, non-conference win over Luther College. The Cardinals didn’t get another complete-...

The Cardinals erupted for six runs in the top of the first inning and never looked back in cruising to an 8-2 win over St. Scholastica in the first game of their non-conference doubleheader at U.S. Bank Stadium. Saint Mary’s put up an...
