As of Monday afternoon, Dec. 18, the Red kettle Campaign has raised over $23,000. That amount does not include any donations made Friday and Saturday, Dec. 15-16.

Parents and children from throughout East Mississippi gathered at the old Office Max building in Meridian on Monday for The Salvation Army Angel Tree’s annual distribution.

Tons of toys from NewsWest 9's Toy Drive got distributed Monday morning to Odessa's Salvation Army.

While teenagers are included this year, there are still roughly 120 gifts still waiting to be submitted for all the children involved.

4,000 families participated in this years Angel Tree program and will have gifts under the tree. This operation doesnt depend on elves and reindeer but on donors who purchase gifts and volunteers to distribute gifts.

This is the Salvation Army's busy season. Workers and volunteers are busy handing out toys to kids in need in time for the holidays.
