good to have you with us. as dozens of u.s. states struggle to control rising coronavirus cases, there s growing fear we could see a post-holiday spike after americans headed out over the fourth of july weekend. scenes like these are only heightening those concerns as many beaches, pools and parks across the u.s. were open and packed with people. right now, this is what the trend looks like compared to one week ago. just three states are seeing a decline while a total of 34 states are seeing their cases go up. and that includes california. the state just set a new record for the most cases reported in a single day. with more than 11,000 new cases and that s according to johns hopkins university. amid-all of this, president trump made an unfounded claim that 99% of coronavirus cases are, quote, totally harmless. the commissioner of the food and drug administration declined to defend that comment. i m not going to get into who is right and who s wrong. we have seen a surge in
great to have you along. thanks for joining me. so we re learning more about how coronavirus is spread and the dangers of doing something as simple as talking or sneezing. a group of health experts warns that even tiny droplets from your mouth or nose can linger in the air and penetrate more deeply into your lungs. they say this underscores why it s just so important to wear a mask. and the u.s. far and away as you can see here has the most cases in the world. new cases are still in the rise across much of the country. we are several months into this pandemic and only three states are seeing fewer cases day to day. a member of the president s corona task force talked with dana bash about how to get the numbers down. so we know cases are surging in the country. we ve all seen the graphs associated with that. and it s too early and i m not going to speculate on what the causation is there. what i can tell you is the way out of this, dana, the way out of this for all americans

tropical storm isaias just shy of hurricane strength is already being felt as it approaches south florida s east coast. it s a major concern in a state already struggling to contain the coronavirus pandemic. covid-19 has infected more than 480,000 people in florida and killed more than 7,000. even with strict safety protocols in place in the state s evacuation shelters, health officials fear the virus could spread further among the people inside with the storm s full impact expected. in the coming hours the state has temporarily shut down the virus testing sites. officials worried they ll see a new surge of cases once the storm has passed and testing resumes. florida s governor says they should prepare for a week long disruption. floridians should be executing their plans, particularly if you re on the east coast of florida, palm beach and north of there. you should have seven days of food, water, and medicine. you very well may experience power outages so just be prepared
