The high court also dismissed the petition seeking quashing of summons issued by the CBI against ex-state chief secretary Sitaram Kunte and incumbent DGP Sanjay Pandey in connection with the case.

The first test of new CBI chief Subodh Jaiswal will be the investigation into the charges against his former boss, Anil Deshmukh. The former Maharashtra home minister has been accused of giving Mumbai police officers, including sacked assistant police inspector Sachin Vaze, a target of collecting Rs 100 crore per month from bars and restaurants in Mumbai.
NEW DELHI: The CBI is conducting searches at at least three places including the residence of former Maharashtra Anil Deshmukh after filing an FIR into the extortion allegations levelled against him by former Mumbai CP Param Bir Singh.
The agency filed a an FIR under sections of prevention of corruption Act against Deshmukh after winding up its preliminary enquiry on Friday.
On April 14, the CBI had grilled Deshmukh for eight hours, focusing on the NCP leader s equations with former Mumbai CP, suspended API Sachin Waze and the authenticity of the WhatsApp messages sent to him by ACP Sanjay Patil.
The CBI team had asked Deshmukh whether Waze would visit him at his residence and if it was normal for the former home minister to meet officials of Waze s rank at his home.
