reporter: this video was seen nationwide. a black labrador retriever risking her life to guard a yellow labrador retriever that had been struck and killed by a car. the tragedy happened last wednesday. a good samaritan stopped and put cones around the black lab and the dead dog as traffic weaved around the animals. she s a hero. reporter: eric is the good samaritan. it s something that a dog like a labrador or any dog that is faithful to his owner or friend is willing to do for anybody. reporter: animal control officials named the black lab grace for her heroic effort. numerous people were hoping to adopt her at the baldwin park animal shelter, including the good samaritan. that is until the rightful owners of the dog stepped up to claim her. animal control officials say the dog quickly responded to her owners who call her maggie the second she saw them. just went absolutely berserk when she saw mom and dad today in the vet division. she was coming out of her
